Mobility Impaired Passengers
Please register!
We would like you to enjoy your stay at our airport. A timely registration of your requirements with your travel agent or directly with the airline online is important so that you receive the service you need. Please indicate when booking, no later though than when collecting your ticket, what kind of disability you have and to which extent you require assistance. Your travel agent will inform the airline with which you are flying.
This way the airline can ensure that all necessary arrangements can be made not only for your departure and arrival at this airport but also on arrival at your destination airport.
For further details please click onto the following link: PDF file for downloading “People with reduced Mobility (PRM)”
A separate check-in can be made available to larger groups of disabled passengers if given prior notice.
Airport Terminal
All areas at the Airport Weeze Terminal are suitable for disabled access. All facilities like restaurants, disabled toilets and baby changing rooms are accessible with a wheelchair. The first floor of Terminal with its Restaurants and viewing platform is easily reached with a lift. The disabled toilet is located on the ground floor.
Parking tips for wheelchair users
On arrival with your own car we recommend wheelchair users to use the marked parking spaces in the first row of car park P1. Please display your disabled badge with the endorsement “aG”, “H” or “BL” clearly visible on the dashboard of your car. On your return, please use the help button on one of the pay machines to contact our parking service colleagues. Show them your disabled parking card to benefit from the cheaper P3 rate.
Hand Luggage
Hand Luggage
Information on the current hand luggage regulations can be found on the homepage of your airline. Here is the link to the airlines operating at Weeze airport: Airlines
Liquid and gel products, e.g. toiletries and cosmetics, are permitted in hand luggage, provided they conform to the following regulations:
- Containers with liquids and similar products may hold up to 100 ml (i.e. the maximum capacity when full as printed on the container)
- All individual containers must be carried together in a transparent, re-sealable (e.g. ‘zip top’) plastic bag, with a maximum capacity of one litre
- Only one bag is permitted per person
- The bag must be shown separately at the Security Control
- Medicines and special food (e.g. liquid baby food) required during the flight do not need to be carried in the plastic bag. However these items must also be presented at Security.
- These plastic bags are available in our flight bag machines. They are located in the terminal in front of the boarding pass control and in the departure area in front of the security checkpoints.
- Items and bags which do not meet these criteria may not be taken on board the plane.
A similar regulation has been in force since 29 September 2006 on flights and connecting flights in the USA. Duty free items, purchased at airports within the EU or on board an EU-airline, may be carried on board in a sealed bag, provided that proof of purchase dated the same day is produced (not applicable on codeshare flights). The bag is sealed at the point of purchase.
The Disctrict Council Düsseldorf is responsible for passenger control procedures at Airport Weeze.
Please check the latest regulations immediately before your departure with the Federal Ministry of the Interior and your airline.
Duty-Free / Travel-Value
Duty-Free / Travel-Value
In duty-free shopping, a distinction is made between duty-free and travel-value.
Duty-free shopping is only possible for travellers whose destination lies outside the EU or on the Canary Islands. If your travel destination lies within the EU, you can take advantage of travel-value offers. Only duty-free tobacco goods may no longer be sold to travellers within the EU.
You will find the duty-free and travel-value shop in the departure area on the first floor behind the security checkpoint.
Check-In
What is the check-in procedure?
The check-in time depends on the airline with which you have booked your flight. An evening-before check-in is not possible. We generally recommend arriving at the airport 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. You should be at the boarding gate at least 40 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Please check with your airline for check-in times.
Corfu
Corfu
If you decide on a holiday on the Greek island of Corfu, you are in for a treat. Soak up the summer sun on Corfu’s fabulous beaches or enjoy breath-taking panoramic views from the top of Mount Pantokrator. Explore islets such as Pontikonisi and Mathraki and discover secret beaches and sea coves. Read on to discover more things to see and do in Corfu.
What to see in Corfu?
- When you fly to Corfu, one of the biggest draws is the abundance of gorgeous beaches. The island boasts over 200km of coastline much of which is surrounded by stunning cliffs and rock formations.
- There’s a lot more to Corfu than its secret coves and sweeping bays however. Interesting attractions worth visiting include The Achillion Palace, originally built for the former Empress of Austria who like many others had fallen in love with the island.
- Located on Corfu’s northwest coastline, the village of Paleokastritsa is where Odysseus was shipwrecked and met Nausicaa in Homer’s epic tale the Odyssey. Even today, it’s easy to see why this village was chosen as the setting for a mythical romance – who could resist the beautiful beaches, olive groves, and cypress forests set against the glittering backdrop of the Ionian Sea?
Travel tips for Corfu
Getting around
Before you fly to Corfu you should know that Corfu has a very limited public transport system which is restricted to just buses. There are two bus services, one for short term trips to the suburbs and to the capital and another for longer distance trips to further towns on Corfu.
What to eat in Corfu?
When you fly to Corfu don’t miss out on trying famous dishes such as “Souvlakia” (skewered meat sticks), Stifado (veal cooked with onions and tomato sauce) and the delicious Giouvetsi (a tasty lamb and rice dish). Fish and seafood dishes are popular too. The Bianco, a traditional dish consisting of different kinds of fish cooked with wine, lemon juice, garlic and vinegar is well worth a try.
Bon Appétit!
