Airport Weeze (NRN) is one of the international airports in NRW carrying about 1,6 million passengers in 2023. The airport, which started scheduled flight operations in 2003, is one of Europe’s youngest airports and also one of the first mostly privately owned airports in Germany. The international airport lies in Kleve district approx. 70 km north of Düsseldorf close to the A57 motorway near the Dutch border. Over 10 million people live within a 60-minute drive. 40 percent of departing passengers come from the Netherlands, around 60 percent from the Lower Rhine region, the Ruhr area and the Rhineland.  The airport area and the adjacent logistics and commercial area – Airport City Weeze – cover 620 hectares.
